About

Sophie Louise Hurley-Walker, (b. 1991 Texas, USA) lives and works in Montreuil, France. As a textile and visual artist, she works primarily in large-scale wall hangings and textiles works. Painting plays an equally important role in her practice, where she explores the body’s interaction with nature and the abstracted forms that emerge from this exchange. Her work translates painterly gestures into material form through knitting, tufting and weaving - circling back into figurative expression to create tactile experiences and a sense of sensory intimacy between the work and the viewer.

She studied in both the UK and France, with a Foundation in Art & Design, Central Saint Martins (UAL, London) and a BA Honours in Textile Design, Chelsea College of Art & Design (UAL, London,) and an Erasmus exchange at L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts, (Paris, France.) Her work has been exhibited at the Portes Ouvertes des Ateliers d’Artistes in Montreuil (2024 and 2025). In collaboration with APN Gallery and Souvenir Official, her pieces were also shown at Souvenir Official’s Gallery in Berlin (2024), alongside other international artists. Working as an Art Director, she regularly collaborates with musicians and fellow artists to create textile-based works featured in music videos, performance pieces and live shows that have toured throughout the UK & EU.
