Through layered textile techniques, colour, relief, and depth appear, echoing the stripping back of rock and the traces time leaves on a surface. Working with wool, a seemingly chaotic material, yet like a hive, geometric down to a cellular level, connects Hurley-Walker to a living material that responds differently to light when cut, knotted, or sewn.
The slow process of making is essential to the form the piece takes, highlighting that craft is both a physical and emotional practice. Playing with scale, viewers feel intimacy with it’s texture; from afar, a human form emerges, embodying presence, memory, and transformation.
